Yes, people still rally Escort Mk1s. Mk2s too and it’s a little surprising to hear them driving around town during a service break using sequential gearboxes - they sound almost like automatics with gearchanges under power.
Should you feel the need, cars like this change hands for substantial sums.

I like to put a long range tank in my corolla. I get 30-33 combined and commute about 50 miles a day and it would be nice to get better range. It’s pretty expensive to do though and I bought the car for $3500 so it’s not really worth doing.
